Iran Reports Attack on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Amid Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Manama, as the country executed strikes throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a "massive" and continuing assault against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area near the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any damage is unclear and the American officials has yet to issue a statement.
Regional Interceptions
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - reported they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was striking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the strikes on Iran carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That initial attack - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck areas linked to the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump calling on the Iranian people to rise up against the regime.
Additional Developments
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israeli military reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE announced that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems engaged the projectiles with high efficiency and destroyed a series of missiles," it added.
The statement noted missile fragments fell on a residential area in the capital, causing some structural damage and killing a civilian.
The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
