Netflix Casts Spot-On Actor for Mr. 2 in One Piece Third Season
The Secret Organization is geared up to exert significant influence in Netflix’s upcoming season of One Piece, even if the real showdown won’t take place until the third season, and a cherished, audience-beloved member has recently been selected.
The streaming service revealed Tuesday that Cole Escola has joined the One Piece season 3 cast and will portray Bon Clay. This character has the ability to morph into an exact copy of any individual they’ve laid a hand on with their dominant hand. Escola, who is non-binary and uses they/them pronouns, will play a interpretation of that character reimagined as non-binary, rather than as a drag performer, in the live-action series, as in the initial comic and cartoon version.
The new cast member joins a number of recently announced actors set to bring the group to the screen, such as leader Sir Crocodile, played by the seasoned performer, an emerging star as a key member, and Sendhil Ramamurthy, who also joins the cast as King Nefertari Cobra of Alabasta.
Though Bon Clay is a important part of Baroque Works, the persona won’t appear until One Piece the upcoming installment. Considering the next season set to cover the Little Garden segment, this signals a major departure in the timing of their first appearance, one that could indicate additional alterations to the plot development.
Their mix of excellent comedic sense and emotional depth makes them a perfect fit for the role. Besides their latest vocal work in the animated feature Boys Go to Jupiter, they garnered significant recognition and multiple awards for creating and performing in the successful stage production Oh Mary!, highlighting the versatility they’ll add to one of One Piece’s widely praised roles.
The platform’s adapted One Piece show is scheduled to come back for its next installment on March 10th, 2026.
