Patrick Bamford Joins the Blades After Initiating Abusive Chants Targeting Manager Chris Wilder
The striker has joined the Championship side just half a year following starting insulting taunts aimed at the team's coach, Wilder.
The 32-year-old forward, without a club after departing from Leeds, has signed a deal joining the Championship club in difficulty through the winter. His seven-year career with Leeds finished through agreement in August.
Among Bamford’s final notable acts as a Leeds player included starting abusive chants regarding Chris Wilder during the club’s success festivities this spring. Currently, the one-cap England player will be playing under Wilder as the Blades’ manager looks to pull his beloved club away from the bottom places.
Past History Between the Striker & Wilder
Both men had previous conflict before Leeds earned promotion back to the top flight the previous campaign while Sheffield United lost the playoff final by Sunderland. The manager described Bamford as “a muppet” back when the situation was different during the 2018-19 season and Sheffield United secured direct promotion whereas Leeds fell short in the promotion playoffs.
Reconciliation & Looking Ahead
Everything appears has been resolved with Sheffield United, the league's lowest scorers, in desperate need of improvement in attack and Bamford aiming to revive his career.
The song about Wilder went viral this spring. An apologetic Bamford along with Leeds boss, Daniel Farke, phoned the Sheffield United manager the next day.
Wilder stated back then: “Had a conversation with Patrick recently and I have no problem at all with it. I’m not sure regarding the language from a fellow professional! But I appreciated and admired him calling me.
“We had a short while and similarly I talked with Daniel Farke as well and we had a half-hour chat together and he's a super guy, a top guy. When I was playing we used to dish it out and take it and that’s part and parcel of the game across all levels, including Sunday league. I have absolutely no issue. I'm fine with the situation and I said that to Patrick.”
Latest Career Challenges
The forward made 18 games for Leeds in the previous campaign however the former Nottingham Forest, Chelsea and Boro striker has struggled with fitness issues in recent years.
