Shock as Popular South African DJ Killed in the Heart of Johannesburg.
A popular South African media personality and entertainer has been murdered in the metropolis of Johannesburg, triggering widespread grief across a country grappling with entrenched crime.
Warrick Stock, popularly known as DJ Warras, was shot and killed in the central business district on the afternoon of Tuesday.
Authorities reported the forty-year-old entertainer was accosted by a trio of assailants, with one shot at him before escaping on foot.
The reason behind the incident is unknown and no arrests have taken place, according to authorities.
The Fatal Incident
Law enforcement said that Stock was ambushed as he was exiting a building near the city center landmark.
He had been present for hours at the property supervising the installation of security systems, which had been reportedly taken over by squatters, it was reported.
"The report indicates the victim was approached by three unidentified men after he parked his car, and they began shooting at him before escaping on foot," an official report said.
CCTV footage reportedly depicted a suspect with dreadlocked hair and wearing what looked like a guard's attire firing shots on Stock before running away.
The DJ sought to escape after he was hit but fell down on the opposite side of the road.
Police added that Stock had an gun that was not fired and it was not a robbery during the attack.
Important clues, like bullet casings, were discovered at the location.

Police have appealed eyewitnesses who may have seen the suspects to come forward.
"Our information indicates they traveled on foot after the attack, and police have been tracking them to establish their destination," stated a police chief.

His sister, Nicole Stock, stated the loved ones are reeling to come to terms with the loss.
"I am in shock. I am shattered," she stated.
"It is clear he was a champion for numerous individuals. He was a fearless commentator about issues not many people were prepared to speak about. This is a profound tragedy."
She requested the citizens to refrain from sharing explicit content from the scene, noting this was an incredibly difficult time, above all for Stock's young family.

Stock was the host of Ngicel' iVisa, a reality show that premiered on a South African digital satellite entertainment channel.
Beyond his role as a presenter, Stock was active in various entrepreneurial pursuits, including security provision, offering VIP protection services and securing prestigious gatherings across South Africa.
He was also understood to participate in property management and participated in property reclaimations.

His murder has shocked the country and prompted an wave of remembrances from his followers, the government and political parties.
A cabinet official said he was angry and saddened by Stock's murder.
"He expressed his views boldly and honestly. He even challenged me and my decisions as a minister. He was a true embodiment of who we should be," the minister added.
A party figurehead said the "audacious attack of DJ Warras in broad daylight is a tragedy for all South Africans".
A broadcasting director expressed that "Stock was far beyond a TV personality. He was a gifted communicator, a true devotee of sound and a kind-hearted individual who brought happiness and vitality to every performance. His artistic passion left an lasting impression."
In a release, the channel he worked for declared Stock was known for his presence, warmth and intelligent commentary, adding that his legacy "will endure".
