The Streaming Platform is Developing a Popular Game TV Series from the Creators of the Alien Series and the Comedy Hit.
The newest Far Cry game that gamers experienced was Far Cry 6, that featured Giancarlo Esposito as the antagonist, Antón, and was released back in October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it has a reputation for celebrating action and mayhem with equal enthusiasm, all while presenting captivating, socially charged narratives. No wonder then that the network’s recent announcement for a Far Cry seasonal program brought on board two creators whose work have exemplified all of those things.
Show Details
Adapted from Ubisoft's hit video game franchise, the limited anthology series will stream on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The show will also parallel the video games' style by having a fresh location and group of personalities in each season.
Key Producers
Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as lead producers on the series through their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
The network enjoyed magnificent collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is fresh, compelling, and extremely entertaining. We also want to appreciate our partners at Ubisoft for trusting us with this cherished property.”
Cast and Future Plans
Mac will also appear in the show, but as of now, we have no details on what role that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just renewed for a second instalment, with FX and Disney finalizing a new long-term contract with the showrunner.
“Being able to collaborate alongside Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably generous, entrusting us with one of the most renowned video-game universes ever created. And throughout this process, my FX team continues to lift me up with their constant confidence and backing.”
“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an standalone show. Every title is a take of a concept, the same way every run of Fargo is a variation on a story,” said Hawley. “To create a large-scale action show that can evolve from one instalment to the next, while always exploring the core of humanity through this intricate and chaotic lens, is a long-held aspiration. I’m excited to work with Rob and present our shared irreverent, ambitious sensibility to the television.”
A release window for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
